PERSONAL DATA PRIVACY POLICY

 

INTRODUCTION

 

This Policy sets out how we handle and process personal data received from individuals, including our business partners (e.g. distributors and dealers). In this Policy, the terms “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Toyota Motor Asia Pacific Pte Ltd.

 

We will only use your personal data where you have given us your consent or where we have other lawful basis for doing so, and in the manner set out in this Policy.

 

In providing us with personal data or allowing your personal data to be provided to us, you accept this policy and consent to our collection, use and disclosure (including transfer) of personal data in accordance with this Policy. If you do not accept this Policy, please do not provide any personal data to us or allow any personal data to be provided to us.

You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data, and you may also withdraw your consent for the processing of personal data that you have given to us throughout the period in which the personal data is kept by us.

 

  1. You are responsible for and must ensure that all personal data that you provide is true, accurate and complete.

 

PURPOSES FOR COLLECTION, USE & DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL DATA

 

  1. We collect, use and disclose the personal data received from you or our business partners for the following purposes and any other related or associated purposes (collectively, the “Purposes”):

  2. delivering services to you;
  3. assisting you with your enquiries;
  4. obtaining feedback and keeping you updated on our services;
  5. complying with our legal obligations and requirements;
  6. enforcing obligations owed to us;
  7. carrying out research, planning and statistical analysis;

In case it is necessary for you to provide the personal data for the purpose of entering into a contract or any other purposes, a refusal of providing the personal data may affect a transaction or any other activities relating to you which may be suspended or ceased as required by business operation or applicable laws, unless you provide such data to us.

 

  1. Where the law allows, we may also collect, use and disclose your personal data, without your consent, for our legitimate business interests, business improvement or business asset transactions or other purpose subject to applicable laws.

TRANSFER AND PROTECTION OF PERSONAL DATA

You consent to us transferring to, and store your personal data in, countries other than the country in which the data was originally collected, including Singapore and Thailand (as the case may be). If we transfer your personal data to other countries, we will ensure that the foreign recipient is obligated to protect your personal data as described in this Policy.

 

  1. While reasonable precautions will be taken to ensure that the information you provide is protected against unauthorised or unintended access, we cannot be held responsible for unauthorised or unintended access that is beyond our control.

 

ACCESS, CORRECTION AND PORTABILITY OF PERSONAL DATA

You may request for correction, deletion and access to the personal data that you provide to us and request us to make a copy of such data, including the right to ask us to disclose any acquisitions of your personal data for which consent has not been given. You may also request us to object or restrict the use of your personal data under certain conditions. If you have an ongoing relationship with us, you may also request us to transmit personal data you have provided to us to another organisation. We may levy a charge for processing your request(s). We may be prevented by law from complying with your request(s). We may also decline your request(s) if the law permits us to do so.

  1. The duration for which we will store personal data will be as follows:-

 

  1. Personal data will be kept for the periods stipulated by applicable laws specifically relevant to retention of personal data.
  2. Where the retention for personal data is not specified by specific laws, we will determine the period necessary and appropriate for its operations.

 

At the end of the relevant retention period, we will delete, destroy, or anonymise the personal data.

 

AMENDMENTS

 

  1. We may amend this Policy from time to time to keep pace with data protection laws and how we handle and process personal data. The latest version of this Policy in force at any given time will apply to our collection, use and disclosure of personal data.
